As the only municipality in Quebec to implement the UN's Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), the Town of Baie-Saint-Paul is necessarily in the news for all the right reasons.

After presenting a 4th sustainable development plan that sets out 4 issues, 10 objectives and 55 actions, the heads behind the ewere asked to discuss the city's overall vision and its position in the Quebec landscape.

Mayor Michaël Pilote tells of visiting Université Laval with Luce-Ann Tremblay, Director of Communications and Sustainable Development, and realizing that Baie-Saint-Paul's involvement in sustainable development is not something that goes unnoticed. Ms. Tremblay goes on to speak of a "DNA" that attracts people to the region, particularly to the downtown area.

The city's general manager, Gilles Gagnon, also points out that Baie-Saint-Paul has the advantage of still being able to develop close to the city's core.

Michaël Pilote points out that the sustainable development plan was drawn up with the collaboration of the citizens, and is therefore representative of their wishes with regard to the 4 targeted issues. The town's avant-gardism, beyond its intentions, depends on the people of Baie-Saint-Paul getting involved in a common vision that is up to date. "What we want is to be a welcoming place, where people feel good and can continue to flourish for generations to come," concludes the mayor.
